What I Do

  1. Executive coaching

I have a track record working with leaders and managers in one-to-one coaching sessions, improving performance and achieving specific personal and business goals. I often use feedback tools and psychometrics but each client is different and so is each coaching programme. Typically a programme lasts six weeks, during which time weʼll embed new work habits and practice and achieve those goals.

  2. Career coaching

Working with sound coaching principles and tools I’ve helped clients at all stages of their careers. Career coaching can help with work progression and promotion; can be invaluable when changing career or addressing work-life balance issues.

  3. Facilitation

I am a trained facilitator and work with organisations designing conferences, away-days and board meetings. These events can help shape the direction and culture of organisations and employing this objective and external focus will provide great return on investment. I have a track record bringing in key high-profile speakers, introducing innovative design and have worked with prestigious companies as their event-lead, MC and Chair. I also have skills and experience facilitating ideas development having lead creative teams winning TV commissions globally.

  4. Life Coaching

Life Coaching can help in all aspects of life and I’ve worked with people facing a myriad of challenges from a variety of backgrounds. Experience tells me that coaching is particularly impactful when clients are facing – or embracing - change or transition in their lives.

  5. Leadership development

I work with organisations and businesses, designing and delivering leadership development programmes. My experience in this field includes work with the BBC and other media companies and I work extensively with arts organisations and practitioners. I worked within the BBC Academy devising bespoke production and leadership programmes for all UK network centres. I am a member of the Guildhall faculty of coaching and mentoring.

About me

Liz has been coaching for over a decade and has considerable experience working with senior leaders, companies, teachers and lecturers, arts bodies and practitioners.

She is passionate about facilitating positive change in individuals, teams and organisations and is particularly interested in working with people during transition, as they take on more senior roles or as they seek the next challenge.

Liz’s own experience as a senior leader within the media and creative sector has deepened her understanding of just how to work within complex organisations and thrive in competitive environments. She has been responsible for significant change initiatives for the BBC and the wider TV industry and has led departments and teams for UK and international broadcasters. She is an award winning journalist and filmmaker and has worked as a commissioning executive and advised on Broadcast strategy. Liz first trained as an executive coach within the BBC and at Ashridge Business School and worked within the BBC internal coach network, coaching senior corporate colleagues for ten years.

Clients describe Liz as being open and challenging, fiercely thorough but supportive. She is solution focussed and brings objectivity and structure to a client’s personal and professional development goals. Liz provides thought-provoking insights and brings a myriad of tools and techniques developed over fifteen years of training and professional development.

Liz works with each client uniquely; devising a coaching plan best suited to their development needs and aspirations. She is empathetic and highly intuitive; working to help identify strengths, develop self-awareness, and change the mind-sets that thwart progress. Coaching with Liz is always hard work with challenge and a good deal of pragmatism.

  • After 25 years in my career as a live performance lighting designer I was ready for a change, or to run away and hide. Burn out and creative dissatisfaction was making me feel trapped and exhausted. Working with Liz helped me to clarify and develop a new way off thinking about what I do. She was brilliant at understanding my creative drive, and long term working relationships and loyalties and work with me to find ways to balance my family, my artistic needs and the financial realities. This has led me to appreciate my talents and branch out to develop my own creative projects at the same time as consciously selecting the other contracts I am offered.

  • Liz’s coaching helped me to regain focus during a period of immense stress in my career. We explored ideas around new opportunities, set new goals and considered my future after redundancy. Our sessions restored my resilience and confidence in my abilities and enabled me to see beyond the situation I was in. I used Liz’s notes and her challenges to stay focused on the future and to start the process of moving on, embracing a new career. I now work for myself - an option I wouldn’t have even considered if it hadn’t been for the sessions I had with Liz. Liz is warm, non-judgemental and insightful. I always enjoyed our sessions and I would recommend her coaching to anyone.

  • Feeling apprehensive about a crossroads in my working life and slightly overwhelmed by the decisions I felt I had to make immediately; after only one session with Liz, her objectivity and insight put me back on track. It was a timely and reassuring conversation, during which Liz realigned my focus, asked some astute questions and really listened to my answers. Liz helped me look at opportunity and the future from a different, less emotive perspective, which is exactly what I needed. I left with focus and optimism, having discussed and agreed a strategy for my next steps. Highly recommended.

  • Liz is a great person to work with if like me you are wanting a change but feel unsure of what steps to take or where to go for your next chapter.  Her easy-going warm and non-judgemental manner made it easy to open up and talk honestly about myself where I wanted to go.  I found myself walking away from our sessions enthused about my future and with plenty of do-able ideas to make that next step happen.

  • Liz facilitated a one-day workshop for us discussing The Trust’s vision and how we will ensure that the implementation of The Trust’s strategic plans aligns with that. Liz quickly attuned to the group dynamics and individual personalities so that everyone’s voice in the room was heard and equal. In the run up to the event, Liz helped us articulate the outcomes we wanted from the workshop and also to understand what was realistically achievable within the time frame. On the day, Liz successfully drew out what each of our visions are for the future and our intentions in terms of measuring success. After the workshop, Liz provided us a written record of what we had collaborated on and agreed. We would not hesitate in looking to Liz again for her facilitation services.

  • Liz is quite simply a brilliant coach – a highly skilled listener with the sensitivity and intellectual/emotional dexterity to make sense of very complex issues, position it back to you and enable you to gain helpful insights and fresh perspectives as a result. A coach who can really help you change your game and move forwards, whatever your particular set of challenges.

Having led creative teams and worked in senior leadership positions herself, she is uniquely equipped to coach leaders at every level in any sector. She’s an individual with real integrity – empathetic, unafraid to challenge and deeply committed to each of her clients. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough'

  • Liz was marvellous after I took redundancy. She supported me in taking control of my life, understanding the changes, thinking about finances and starting to plan the next steps in my career. Her enthusiasm and belief in me was of great comfort throughout that time.

  • I found Liz to be a really wonderful coach. The first time I met with Liz, she listened intently as I explained my intentions for my new freelance career.  She was able to pick up so much from what I said to her and fed it back to me in the most useful, inspiring and validating way. Her insights energised and focussed me. She also followed this session up with a very detailed email, summarising the action points we had decided upon in the session. This was a very thoughtful gesture and reflected how much Liz herself had invested in making sure I got the most out of the session.  I have had a couple of sessions with her since starting freelance life and Liz is always so astute and wise in her advice, regardless of what I bring to the table.

  • Liz Molyneux was a fantastic coach and really put me at my ease. I left the BBC after 25 years as a staff producer and reporter. Most of my career was on BBC Radio Four, which I loved and it was hard to leave but it was the right time. I wanted a new challenge and Liz helped to guide me. Since leaving the BBC, I studied for a qualification in teaching English as a Foreign Language and have taught in Hong Kong and Italy. It has been a wonderful experience. I am now back in the UK and looking forward to my next challenge. Liz's earlier advice will help me to achieve this again.
